Only time will tell - and the?clock is ticking . . .
Theodore lost his dad in a tragic car accident after Theo started seeing numbers in his dad’s eyes that were counting down from 159. He knows he should have done something to stop his dad going out on the day that the number turned to zero, and he has blamed himself ever since.
Then his only friend moved away on the day that her number counted down to zero, and now Theo can’t face the world for fear of suffering another loss.
This has led him into life as an online gamer and writer, but when his English teacher tells him to get out and experience the world, to help make his writing more real and authentic, he decides to take a chance.
He meets up with someone who he believes to be a boy, but then Lily arrives and turns his world upside down. They share experiences that are not all good, and fall deeply in love with each other. Theo sees the number in her eyes, but with the help of his wonderful therapist he decides that it might be better to love and lose, than to not experience it at all.
This is a love story with a difference, highlighting that life experiences and connection are so important to us as humans. There are some suicidal thoughts, swearing and non-graphic sex scenes, and filled with themes of friendship, sexuality, mental health and, most importantly, love and loss, this is a wonderful book that will be best suited to readers aged from 14 to 18 years.
