Review

Fictionalised, but written by Ash Barty and the team behind the Little Ash series, this is told in diary form, recollecting Ash’s first trip to tennis camp. At the age of 10 and already dreaming of being a future world champion tennis player, Ash is the youngest on camp. But she doesn’t let this stop her from being her best.

The usual camp activities happen - friendships begin, there is tennis to be played, a mean kid who is the camp bad guy, and even a talent show!

Ash is teamed up with Ollie to partner in the tournament to play doubles. Although they are friends, she was hoping to team up with Zia (her best friend), and she knows that Ollie really plays singles best.

But this book is all about giving your best and learning how to work with others. Can Ash and Ollie work together to succeed in the doubles tournament?

This is a terrific new series about determination, friendship and being your best self that will appeal to younger readers aged 8 to 11 years, particularly those who love sport.
