Review

Following on from the first book that is also included in this month’s package, comes the second story from Taronga Zoo - and this instalment sees our young animal enthusiasts at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo.

It is Ollie’s birthday weekend, and Ollie’s dad has to take some supplies to the zoo in Dubbo, and of course Ollie wanted Sophia to come too. They are both so excited to spend their weekend there, but there are surprises in store for Ollie too - as long as Sophia can keep the secrets!

Ollie and Sophia always work as a team, but that doesn’t seem to be happening on this trip. Sophia is anxious - not only about her birthday present surprise for Ollie not coming in time, but also about her part in Ollie’s surprise present from his family too!

Can she stay in the moment and enjoy this trip with Ollie, which is ultimately all he really wants for his birthday?

This is a great story about realising what is really important – friendship, being together and sharing experiences with one another. It will be enjoyed by all students in lower and middle primary, and Ollie’s never-ending facts are an added highlight.
