Alex is expecting a pretty boring summer. But when Mum takes her to visit her mysterious grandfather on his farm in Tasmania, weird things start to happen...
Weirdest of all? Her grandfather’s pet alpacas… who can talk! When things go from strange to scary, Alex must use all her brains, brawn and bravery in order to survive the sinister forces threatening life as she knows it.
When Alex’s Mum takes her to Tasmania for the summer holidays to stay at her Grandfather’s farm, she expects a really boring trip.
Then weird things start to happen straight away, including four alpacas who can talk to Alex, but no one else!
But when things go from weird to scary, Alex’s holiday is definitely no longer boring. Alex will need to use all her brains, and any help she can get (even from alpacas), to stop an evil force from taking over her life.
This is a fantastic introduction to the supernatural mystery genre for lower secondary readers. It has great characters and a storyline that will keep you intrigued to the very end. It has a few quite confronting scenes but they are well-written and in the context of the story. I really enjoyed it.
