'How much money do I have in my piggy bank?' asked Hercules. 'Actually,' said Aunt Alligator, 'I don't think you have a piggy bank, Hercules.' Hercules sighed. No piggy bank, no money. I need a job, he thought. That's what I need. He got out his paints, his paintbrush and a big piece of plain paper.
On the paper, he painted some words. NEED SOMETHING DONE? ASK HERCULES QUICK!
Hercules is so excited when he sees a magic box for sale in the shop window.
But he knows it will cost a lot of money - and when he asks his aunt how much he has in his piggy bank, she tells him Hercules that he doesn't even have one!
So Hercules comes up with a plan to earn money to buy the magic box by doing jobs that others need doing. But Hercules soon realises that this is harder than he thought, and that maybe the magic he was after was in front of him the whole time!
This is a delightful story about determination and having a go, from the wonderful team of Ursula Dubosarsky and Andrew Joyner, and is perfect for young readers who are looking to expand their reading beyond picture books.
