Review

This is more than just a story about AFL football (but your footy crazed students will certainly love it!)

Set in the country town of Davinal, the story follows the daily lives of Fox and his friends at home, school and playing sport. Fox and his friends are your typical, sports loving kids. They train and play hard, but they do it fairly, and they understand that winning is great, but it isn't everything.

The same cannot be said for Mace Winter, Mace’s father Miles (who is the coach of Fox’s rival team, the unbeatable Dragons) and Mace’s bully mate Vince. They are determined to lie and cheat their way to victory and will stop at nothing to win.

Good versus bad. For me, that is the essence of this story.

The way that Fox and his friends handle the bullying, sexism, racism and cheating are the highlights of this story. They won’t be intimated by Mace and Vince, and they have a few tricks of their own! But can they really beat the ‘Unbeatables’?

Footy and sports loving boys and girls will enjoy this fantastic book.
