Andy is in Year 7 at Bellington High School, and on this particular Monday his entire world is about to change. Marley, who he has known since primary school, invites him to her house. This should be fun - except her brother Henry is the toughest kid in the school, and is very protective of his little sister, which makes Andy very nervous.
On Tuesday, Andy gets roped into being an accomplice in stealing the Year 12's fundraising chocolates from the science coolroom by Fleassey and Nick - and unknowingly Marley and Jasmine get roped in too. Just as they are about to fill their bags with chocolates an unknown door opens at the back of the cool room and Principal Jenkins appears! Luckily, no one gets caught! But where did he come from? And why is he stealing the chocolates?
Later, Henry corners Andy to make sure he is being nice to his little sister, and he takes Andy’s box of chocolates, but when he eats them he starts acting very strangely. What is wrong with these chocolates?
Andy, Marley, Fleassey, Nick and Jasmine quickly work out that something very strange is happening in their school... As they investigate they quickly discover that aliens have taken over the basement, and they are planning on taking over the world by secretly hiding in the chocolates, getting eaten by the humans and taking over the human bodies!
Can this bunch of Year 7 misfits - who don’t really get along that well - save the world by stealing the chocolates, before the aliens can infect the human race?! This heist is going to one of epic proportions!
I really enjoyed this book. Each of the main characters has their own unique skill set, and it’s not until they start working together that they discover how amazing each of them is. It’s a fast-paced adventure full of crazy plans, aliens and lots of fun, and a heist that really needs to work for them to save the world. A fantastic book that is perfect for middle grade readers.
