Review

In this fantastic new graphic novel series, we meet Finley and his shark friends, Hunter, Gilleon and Gnash. By day they are ordinary shark kids who attend Chumville School for Sharks, but by night they are the awesome band, Jawsome! There are two stories in this first book, Stage Bite and Finvestigated.

In Stage Bite, there is trouble brewing for the band when their lead singer, Ann Chovi - the only member of the band who doesn't go to school with the others - suddenly quits. With a show to perform in 3 days, who can they get to replace her?

Finley has a great voice, but he also suffers from extreme stage fright—he is fine on stage playing guitar, but singing is a completely different story! His friends have a plan to overcome his fear -but will it pay off?

In Finvestigated, the band find themselves trying to outwit the new kid at school, Squidley Whistleblower. His mum is a famous journalist and she is only in town to try and solve the mystery of the chum shortage. Squidley is confident, nosy and a would-be reporter himself and he is on the hunt to expose the members of the band Jawsome!

They decide that the only way to get rid of Squidley, and keep their identity a secret, is to turn into reporters themselves and get to the bottom of what is really going on with the chum shortage. What they find might surprise everyone...

This is a great new series for emerging readers that is all about friendship, believing in yourself and helping others. It is full of wonderful shark puns, and with some mystery thrown in, it will be enjoyed by all students in junior to middle primary school.
