Description

From the author of the international bestseller One of Us Is Lying comes a brand new unputdownable YA thriller.

Five years ago, Brynn quit Saint Ambrose School following the shocking murder of her favourite teacher. The case was never solved, but Brynn's sure that the three kids who found Mr. Larkin's body on school grounds know more than they're telling.

Brynn's ex-best friend Tripp was one of them. Thanks to Tripp's testimony none of them were found guilty of the murder and now, five years later, the trio are at the top of the school's social ladder.

When Brynn gets the internship of a lifetime working on a new true-crime show, she decides to investigate what really happened that day in the woods for herself. But the further she dives into the past, the more secrets she uncovers—about Saint Ambrose School, about Mr. Larkin, and even about her ex-best friend.

Review

This murder mystery is set four years after the death of Mr Larkin, Brynn's favorite teacher.

Brynn has just returned to town and is going back to the same school. Because of her internship with true crime publication Motive she wants to revisit the past. This means befriending her ex-boyfriend Tripp, who was with two other students in the woods when they found Mr Larkin.

The plot, suspense and character development are fantastic as we dig deeper and deeper into what really happened. The story is told from the viewpoints of both Brynn and Tripp which keeps you on edge, particularly as their relationship develops. There are hints that will have dramatic implications for both of them and their families if proven to be true, but you are kept guessing right until the end.

This is a gripping thriller that I loved, although I would have preferred a more prolonged ending. Perfect for fans of thrillers, aged 14 and older.
