Review

This is a great new series for junior to middle primary students.

It is the magical story of Pepper the cat, and Zamir (Zam), who rescued her when she was a kitten.

They live on an olive farm with Zam’s father and his Dadi (his grandmother), who is originally from Kashmir. They have a wonderful bond and Pepper likes nothing more than sitting on the carpet that her Dadi brought with from her homeland.

Pepper and Zam feel a hum when they sit on the carpet, and they think that it is alive. Dadi assures them that although it was once was, it is now asleep. Not that they believe her of course!

But after Zam doesn’t adhere to Dadi’s warning about sitting on the carpet with the window open, Zam and Pepper find themselves on an adventure of a lifetime!

Suddenly landing in a foreign land, they find themselves trying to save their carpet, and their own lives. How will they get out of the mess they find themselves in, and get back home to Australia?

This is an easy-to-read story about family, friendship, animal bonds and helping others, that will be loved by those who have a vivid imagination!
