Review

This is the second book in this adventure series for lower to middle primary students, although it can certainly be read as a stand-alone title. You received Book 1 - Pepper Masalah and the Flying Carpet - as part of your March Standing Order selection.

In this instalment, Pepper and Zam find themselves once again far from home as their flying carpet takes them on another adventure.

This time they find themselves in Egypt and on the river Nile, during the reign of Pharaoh Tutankhamun!

Their first encounter is with the old crocodile that inhabits the river, and they find themselves fighting for their lives. They are rescued by a young girl named Tabia, and they are both taken to the Temple of Cats.

But not all is as it seems at the Temple. The cats all think they are there because they are special and will be looked after. But Sefu, who runs the Temple, has other ideas -and has plans to make the special cats into mummies. And as Pepper really is special, Sefu has Pepper firmly in his sights!

Zam and Pepper must use all their cunning and tricks to get out of this situation andget back home. But after getting wet in the Nile, will their flying carpet fly again?

A great read for those who love a magical adventure story.
