Pippa has just arrived at a new school, in a new town, and even living on a gorgeous island isn't cheering her up. Her arrival causes ripples at Kira Island Primary School - but Pippa soon starts to make friends with eco-warrior Meg, boho-chick Charlie, and fashionista and cupcake baker Cici.
Pippa's mum plans to buy a rustic old boatshed and start a bookshop cafe, and Pippa worries they'll lose all their money in this madcap venture - until her new friends come to the rescue to help get the grand opening back on track. Will Kira Island ever feel like home?
This is the first in a wonderful new series that middle to senior primary girls will love, by one of my favourite authors, Belinda Murrell.
Pippa, her Mum, and her younger brother and sister have all moved from London to Australia and are starting a new life on Kira Island. The only trouble is Pippa liked her old life - her school, her friends and her complete family.
Her Mum is sure she can make a good life for them on Kira Island, and puts her heart and soul into renovating an old boatshed into a café. But Pippa is worried. She thinks her Mum may lose all that have left with her crazy plan.
Pippa is also having her ups and downs settling into her new life. Her new friendships with Meg, Charlie and Cici all seem to be going ok, but what is it about Olivia? Why is she trying to make life hard for Pippa?
A really enjoyable story of family, friendship and new beginnings, but also of community involvement and acceptance.
