Violet loves playing guitar and now that she is in Year 8 she can compete at BandChamps - if she is good enough, and can keep her ADHD under control.
The music teacher is holding auditions and some of her friends turn up, along with a group of boys who are all good musicians, so she knows it is going to be tough.
When it’s decided that they are all going to be in the band together, Violet has a better idea. She convinces her friends that they should form their own band - even though they can’t play any instruments! After all, you only need to know three chords to play a song, and Violet is sure they can all do that, right?!
The band practices really hard, and everything seems to be coming together, when some of their gear goes missing. Can Violet and her friends solve the mystery and still make it to BandChamps?
This is a great story about never giving up and following your dreams. Violet and her friends are wonderful characters who all have challenges of their own, but work together to make sure the band works - and, most importantly, that it is fun. A perfect book for those who love music and mysteries, in lower secondary and above.
