Sunaya’s peaceful village life is turned upside down when a simple mountain mission turns into a death-defying quest for survival.
Winter treks to summer pastures, mythical Ice-People that are scarily real, avalanches, ice falls, power plays, mysterious magic and surprising friendships – it seems not everything in life is set in stone...
When Sunaya, her nephew Danam, and her uncle set out on the trek that will take them to Dragon Mountain they venture into the land of the mythical Ice-People. With the six precious pregnant gotals in tow, Sunaya has a very bad feeling about this trek right from the start.
Sunaya senses that they are being watched on their travels, and when they have to shelter for the night, she suddenly realises that she was right. They are confronted by Crown Princess Rishala of the Skylands and her brother Prince Praseep, who are on the lookout for their Cloud Dragon - and they are convinced that Danam is it. The stories told to Sunaya about the Skylands and the Ice-People really seem to be true!
Sunaya knows that she must save Danam from the gruelling tests that he will have to undertake to prove his powers, as she knows it is not Danam who is ‘the chosen one’.
This is a fabulous magical and mythical story about courage, friendship and resilience that senior primary students will love.
