Review

Kira is not someone to be messed with. She was found as a small child, living in the forest, by Cady Bennett - a world renowned search and rescue tracker.

Kira took time to adjust to the normal world, but this was helped by being adopted by Cady. Cady, her ever-optimistic son, Jude, and their tracker dogs, soon became Kira’s family. Together with her brilliant neighbour, Free, who refused to sit exams (as she didn’t have a need to prove her brilliance to anyone), the three teenagers became inseparable.

Cady trained them all to follow her into the search and rescue service, but they didn’t realise how quickly they would need use their skills. When Cady’s long-lost Dad turns up and tells them that there isa small girl lost in the forest that needs finding, how can they refuse?

What follows is not only an incredible search and rescue effort, but a journey into family history, hidden secrets and mystery that keep the reader guessing until the end.

I love Jennifer’s novels, and while this is different from her other best sellers, the way that she defines and gets into the details of her characters is amazing. They are always brilliant and different.

This is a terrific mystery that contains themes of survival, family secrets, search and rescue - there are so many things that made me love it. It will appeal to teenagers from thirteen to sixteen years, but will be enjoyed by those much older who pick it up too!
