Along the way, Tobias faces deadly obstacles made more complicated by the lethal family dynamics of three brothers – one good, one evil, and one dead!
When 11-year-old Tobias Crane is forced to work as a ship’s lad he doesn’t know what to expect. But he soon makes friends among the lads and is taken in by the captain to learn how to navigate the seas.
Then a terrible storm hits and their ship sinks, leaving Tobias and his friend Quinn clutching on to a barrel and eventually washed ashore on a seemingly deserted island. After some time adjusting, believing that all the other crew must be dead, they go and explore and find a local tribe along with some of their shipmates who landed on the other side of the island.
It turns out that this is the island where Quinn’s parents disappeared from, and the people that raised him as their own are so pleased that he has returned.
But when the deadly ship The Hades Damnation arrives in their bay, with their Captain’s evil brother Ryker in charge, they know that they are in for a fight for their life. Ryker had earlier attacked their boat and is known to take prisoners to be sold as slaves. Will they survive, and will the mysterious Ghost ship that helped Tobias and Quinn find the island return and help them when they are in desperate need?
This is a terrific adventure, with acts of bravery and treachery with the underlying theme of finding your true place in the world, this is an easy to read book suitable for ages 10 to 14.
