Catastrophe befell Meg Archer when she was eight. The daughter of the head of the rangers she was already well trained and destined to be a Master Ranger.
The Rangers job on Black Water Island was to protect the old herd, particularly if there was a Rift and death appeared through it.
But then a tragic accident occurred and her mother took her to go to the mainland to lead a normal life. But now its ten years on, and Meg and her sick mother have returned to sort out her mothers affairs.
Meg’s childhood friend, Cal, who was not destined to become a Ranger, is now her father’s favourite, but this can’t stop the spark that soon forms between Meg and Cal. Dark and traitorous strategies are at play, as evil forces threaten the very existence of the old herd - and the harmony they provide.
This was an energetic read with characters that you will love. It is a typically enthralling Rachael Crow fantasy, packed with romance and adventure.
Suitable for all YA’s thirteen and older.
